Throughout the course of human history, we have encountered great men and women who have identified and connected with their peers. This bond was forged from a mutual conviction for a great cause. This cause based on a dream. This dream became true and all were filled with jubilee and ecstasy when triumph was attained. Emotional Intelligent Leaders have the capacity and capability to make any possibility, a distinguishable reality.

Here are five factors that make an Emotionally Intelligent Leader, a true impact player:

A true leader can morph any negative situation in to a positive one. Their mere presence can rearrange the scenery and, reignite the fire in the hearts of many. These very few individuals are transformational leaders.

So what makes someone a transformational leader?

There are a several characteristics and traits, these candidates exhibit.

  • Visionary – “When there is no vision, the people perish”. This proverbial idea is a certainty. A transformational leader has an idea, a vision or a prophecy that he desires to have everyone to buy in to. Starting with small and attainable goals, transformational leaders wish for their colleagues to see the big picture as they do. The small objectives are met, but are none the less essential for the progress of the team. Once the team tastes success, the dream becomes realistic. Results are achieved through prior effort and the vision becomes a tangible landmark that is no longer so faint in the distance.
  • Inspirational – “A leader is a dealer in hope” . Napoleon Bonaparte said it best. A transformational leader has the uncanny ability to inspire his fellows to perform at their best. A transformational leader, is essentially a motivator. Through his actions, charisma and passion, the potential of the team becomes kinetic by the energy he or she exudes. The best leaders will never lead you in to a situation that they would not lead themselves to. However, these motivators will escort you through adversity that may seem impossible to overcome. The key to remember is that leader knows that the ideal result is very much plausible.

This relationship gains more equity and confidence is installed in both the leader and the teammate. Most importantly, a transformational leader that is a team player gains the respect of the people they administer. The guide does not serve as a beacon, but rather the compass. They are not standing on a soapbox and directing from a distance. Instead, they are in the trenches and, in the thick of it with you. This is the most precious aspect of a true leader.
  • Poise And Moxie –  The last essential characteristic of a transformational leader, is their strength of resolve. When times get testy, a true leader does not abandon ship; they go down with it if they must. They chartered the vessel and captained the crew, all others bought in. Now, the team finds themselves imperiled. A true transformational leader does not waiver, nor do they turn their back on those who followed them. A transformational leader carries on and does not relent due to challenges. Instead, innovative strategies are employed and a tactical response is deployed. The heart of a leader, is the heart of a lion. The cause will not be compromised due to an unexpected contingency. A leader adapts and carries the team on his shoulders to victory. The rector does not relinquish the cause, or blame his teammates for difficulties faced. They do not wish to escape admonishment. If anything, a transformational leader will always suffer the consequences at their expense, to protect their team. At the same token, a transformational leader is not afraid to take charge and take chances. Part of the sheer essence of innovation, is the willingness to take risks of great measure. A true visionary firmly adheres to this striking principle.

          Charisma is the ultimate “it” factor. All of the world’s greatest leaders exude what is called Charisma. This aura and mystique that surrounds these enchanting people, is the foundation of successful leadership. So what does it take to be a charismatic leader? Here are five traits commonly found in these “people persons”.

  • “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman. The most important characteristic any charismatic leader ever had, was passion. Passion is the fuel of any idea or cause. Those who are most passionate have an uncanny ability to compel others through the pure emotion they exude. Regardless of the nature of their cause, or their intent…Charismatic leaders believe ardently in their visions and do not hold back from sharing their animation with others. Passion is the number one trait that marks any charismatic leader.

Some of the most charismatic leaders in history were great speech writers and even better public speakers. Charismatic leaders have a sensational way of speaking what is on their mind in a refined yet comprehensive manner. Their message can reach plenty, yet they maintain a level of decorum and eloquence. With a heightened assembly of verbiage, the prominence of these figures elevate even more. Charismatic leaders are articulate.
  • “Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.” – Michael Caine. Charismatic leaders have a great ability to stay calm under pressure. True leaders are innovators. Thus, an innovative leader is a style that can foster unparalleled results. Many innovative leaders anchor certain characteristics that make sculptors of success and achievement.

  • “Art begins in imitation and ends in innovation.” – Mason Cooley. Innovative Leadership requires the employment of creativity. This is the art form and medium, that results are best achieved. Using new tactics and creating new strategies to achieve the desired result. Innovative leaders are the catalyst for creation. The creations result in new avenues that will lead the team to prominence.
  • “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” – Albert Einstein. An innovative leader can ascertain knowledge and use this information to foster the ideal outcome. Imagination is knowing information yet adapting it to conceive a creative means of developing the proper approach. Innovative leaders use their imaginations to innovate. In their abstract thoughts, a deviation from tradition. This deviation has always been the mother of invention. Innovative leaders know this to be essentially true.

If there was not an objective that had a lot of meaning, and must be met…why then would so many inventors, artists, writers, scientists and idealists endure great tribulation? They are detail oriented and know that certain tasks and steps must be met en route to the grand prize. Thus, these other four characteristics are important. An innovative leader must invent while maintaining focus on the task at hand. Minor details that slip can ultimately alter the course of action that will lead the team to their desired result. An innovative leader must be methodical, recognizing the goal cannot be attained with key details being neglected. A true innovator uses his cognition to imagine and create a pathway that achieves all objectives en route to the ultimate goal.
