Hanoi Day 11 – Exploring the city, Train Ride down the coast

by Joel Goldstein on October 16, 2009

  • Took the train into Hanoi in order to catch the 11pm night train to Hoi An… We didn’t make it
  • Met a cool guy Felipe a Belgian in the train station and had dinner with him
  • Our train ended up killing a man on the tracks that was on a scooter and held up the train for an hour or so. Nobody except for me found this unsettling, sad.
  • Ended up staying the night in Hanoi
  • Got a good nights rest and set out early on an adventure
  • Negotiated a new day pack down from $15 to $6
  • Stumbled across a Bonsai festival with amazing exhibits
  • Played around on the stage where we saw a play the previous night
  • Walked around the lake and checked out the temple in the middle of it
  • Caught the train to Hoi An
  • Saved 10,000 dong by getting the top bunk… 10,000 Dong = $0.55
  • The top bunk ended up being very tight…
  • Nailed my funny bone. Not funny…
  • Had a great nights sleep.
